About the presenter:
Richard Butler – Senior Executive Engineer with the NBCOMSO
Richard Butler is a Senior Professional in the National Building Control and Market Surveillance Office. The office provides oversight, support and direction for the delivery and standardisation of Building Control in the 31 Building Control Authorities; through Education and Training, Inspections, Compliance & Support and IT-Enabler (BCMS).
Richard is an expert in the building regulations, codes and standards; leads the Inspections pillar where he is instrumental in providing compliance support to implement a strengthened inspection regime and promote a culture of compliance with the Building Regulations.
Prior to his current role he has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, including experience in the role of assigned certifier and designer.
Richard holds a B.Eng. Civil Engineering from Queen’s University of Belfast, P. Grad. Dip. Fire Safety Practice from Trinity College Dublin and a P. Grad. Cert. Digital Analysis and Energy Retrofit from Dublin Institute of Technology. Richard is a Chartered Member of Engineers Ireland, A Registered Building Surveyor and Fellow of The Chartered Associations of Building Engineers (UK).
