Prawns Ambot Tik
For The Prawn Marination
1 cup prawns
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
For The Masala
10 Kashmiri chilllies [ 5 deseeded and 5 whole ]
2 tsp cumin seeds
4 cloves
1 cinnamon
10 whole black peppercorns
6-7 garlic flakes
1 inch ginger
1 tsp tamarind paste or lime sized ball of tamarind soaked in warm water
Grind all the above masalas to a smooth paste using little water.
Other Ingredients
1 finely chopped onion
2 green chillies
2 tsp sugar
Salt
3-4 pieces of kokum
2 tbsp oil
Method
Heat oil in a pan, add the onion and sauté till translucent . Add the masala paste and continue sautéing for 2-3 minutes. Then add the prawns and sauté them for 2-3 minutes. Add about a cup of water . Cover and on medium heat , allow the ambot tik to boil for about 3-4 minutes. Add the green chillies and the kokum . Serve hot with rice . Enjoy .
