The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local doctors are warning Hudson Valley residents about a rare, potentially deadly tick-borne virus that they say is worse than Lyme disease. Due to the mild winter and growing tick population, experts are concerned that incidents of the Powassan virus may rise this year in New York.
