The Kenya National Highways Authority, KeNHA, is working on road construction projects worth 38 billion shillings in the county of Kiambu. The 114 kilometres project is aimed at easing traffic in some affected areas as well as increase access to various parts of the county.
The project, which is to take 3 to four years according to KeNHA ,will also see roads that will connect counties. This project will see the construction of the 47 kilometre Ruiru-Githunguri-Uplands Road which will connect the Thika Highway and the Nairobi-Nakuru highway at Uplands. Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu says KENHA will construct an interchange at the Thika-Garissa Road junction at Gatitu that will help diffuse the notorious traffic there.
