TORRIJAS
INGREDIENTS:
A baguette (about 3 to 4 days old) (or as much or little bread as you'd like to cook)
Milk (enough to soak the chosen amount of bread)
2 beaten eggs
Sugar and ground cinnamon
Frying oil
Torrijas is a very simple Easter dessert with which to use stale bread. Spanish do not like to throw anything away and we always have ways of cooking different left overs.
In this case, this is cheap and simple.
You can infuse the milk with cinnamon sticks and lemon skin on the hob for a few minutes if you prefer. Many people do it. But it is not necessary to enjoy this.
My mum always made torrijas with the old stale piece of baguette and I loved it.
So, give them a go. Don't let them soak for too long (as I did on the video:0) and enjoy. They are lovely. Well, I do think they are.
