The Su-34 fighter-bomber was conceived in the early 1980s as a project to gradually replace the Su-24 Fencer attack aircraft; as the Su-24 must be accompanied by fighter aircraft. After unsuccessful tests, during the next decade, the Su-34 project was revived and adopted with a wide range of features of the 4+ generation fighter. Officially introduced in 2014, the Su-34 is considered by many to be a more advanced evolution of the Su-27 Flanker family.
