This is a maiden flight of N219, long waited 19 passengers multipurpose turboprop. The N219 will be the first aircraft produced in Indonesia, since cancellation of N250 and N2130 projects 17 years ago. N-219 first flight is the special present for Indonesian Independence day on this August 17.

Today, Wednesday (08/16/2017), at around 09:10 pm, N219 aircraft officially conducted the first flight test. This first flight of long waited small fully EFIS turboprop conducted at Husein Sastranegara airport, Bandung.

The N219 with registration number PK-XDT flies smoothly, and will perform a series of flight tests, such as steering and navigation controls. N219 first flight conducted in 30 minutes in the sky of Bandung area, before returning to land at Husein Sastranegara airport.

Previously, LAPAN (Indonesian national aeronautic and space agency) and PTDI (Indonesian Aerospace Industry) have conducted a series of trials on land prior to the first flight test. Testing includes run up machines, short taxiing, long taxiing, high speed taxiing, and hopping tests.

Inaugural flight N219 was delayed several times. But finally, the day before the 72nd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, LAPAN and PTDI successfully flew premieres.
