HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018
Samsung’s Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program may soon be over. The program, which has been running since early November, has seen Samsung’s early Oreo software receive several iterations, and we expect it to wrap up by early next year.
Its final update may now be rolling out, as beta number five (ZQLE) starts to land on Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus devices (in the beta program). The news arrives via Sam Mobile, and like beta four, this release focuses on bugs. Issues such as the Home Screen not fitting the display correctly, the phone restarting while using the camera, and video playing faster after connecting an HDMI cable, have all be quashed thanks to the latest patch.
It’s purely my own speculation that this could be the last update, based largely on Samsung’s Nougat beta from last year. This saw four updates for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and ended late in December. I could be wrong, but, two months and five updates in — and with Samsung now on bugwatch — it feels like the final Oreo rollout can’t be far off.
Samsung has released a new Android 8.0 Oreo beta for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. This is the fifth Oreo beta that it has released since launching the Galaxy Beta Program for these devices. The company recently expanded its beta program to more markets across the globe. It’s the second beta release for markets where the program was expanded to only recently. The firmware version is the same across all markets.
