To Make Hyderabadi Dalcha
Bottle Gourd - 1 No.
Oil - 3 Tbsp
Whole Spices
( Cinnamon, Cloves, Cardamom, Red Chillies, Peppercorns )
Onion - 1 No.
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp
Tomato - 1 No.

Cumin Powder - 1 Tsp

Tamarind Puree - 2 Tbsp

Method:
To a bowl, add quarter cup of toor dal, quarter cup chana dal,
quarter cup of moong dal. Wash it 3-4 times, pour enough
water and soak it for one hour.
To a pressure cooker add all the dals, add one onion finely
chopped, one tomato finely chopped, two green chilies slit,
quarter tsp turmeric powder, one tsp salt and mix it all once.
To this add three cups of water, handful of chopped coriander
leaves, chopped pudina leaves. Close the pressure cooker and
cook it till three whistles. Transfer it to bowl and keep it aside.
To a wide kadai, add three tbsp of oil, add the whole spices, a
and roast it well. Then add one large onion finely chopped and
saute it till it gets a golden brown colour, Add a tsp of ginger
garlic paste and saute well.
Then add one tomato finely chopped, one tsp of salt, one tsp
Kashmiri red chilly powder, one tsp cumin powder, one tsp
coriander powder, one tsp garam masala powder and mix all
well.
Then add the bottle guard pieces,. Mix it all well till the
masala gets coated with the bottle guard pieces. Add some
water, mix well and close the kadai and cook for five minutes.
Add the cooked dal to this masala mixture and mix it all well.

Add a two tbsp of tamarind juice and mix it all well. Let it
boil for two minutes.
Add some crushed kasoori methi leaves and some chopped
coriander leaves and mix well. Switch off the stove, remove
the kadai and keep it aside.
Hyderabadi dalcha is ready to be served nice and hot.
