When a stranger talks to you in a pub in London you know you are in for a long night and a sore ear at the end. In Amsterdam, this turns out to be not the case. Popping into one of Amsterdam's famous Brown Bars to taste some beer and bitterballen (or voyeuristically taste if you are a vegetarian like our Culture Vulture Grace) we met a rather interesting man who educated us about the history of the most Dutch of all spirits, Genever.
