It has emerged the British Prime Minister is in intensive care just hours after Dominic Raab insisted that Boris Johnson is still "in charge" of the Government and departments are working "full throttle" to carry out his instructions.
Mr Raab defended the decision for Mr Johnson to remain head of the Government, despite being taken to hospital on Sunday night for "precautionary" checks.
The Foreign Secretary, who chaired this morning's coronavirus meeting in Mr Johnson's place, said the Prime Minister had a "comfortable night" in St Thomas's Hospital and was in "good spirits".
Professor Chris Whitty, who has just returned to work following a period of self-isolation, would not comment on Mr Johnson's own case but said it was possible for some coronavirus patients to work from hospital.
