This is a quick look at Mig Jimenez' Encyclopedia of Armor Modeling techniques. It is Part 4 - weathering.
The book deals with various weathering options applied on different models representing different eras. There are modern armor alongside WWII and WWI tanks and everything is wrapped around the idea of making the model look more realistic.
The books is part of a series, which will be a useful bench tool for modelers and for fans of World of Tanks and Armored Warfare who got into modeling because of the games.
It will help you develop some skills and all can be based on a single company production: AMMO by MIG.
A established and well known name in modeling, especially armor, Mig Jimenez managed to combine a lot into a book which is both a marketing tool and a helpful guide for modelers. At first I thought that the encyclopedia might disappoint me, since I expected to see a lot of commercial-oriented information about AMMO products. Just the contrary - the book is wonderfully done and even though it has its marketing value for MIG's company, it is perfect helping tool for any armor scale modeler - novice or experienced.
There are 4 more parts and besides them, there are aircraft series form the same company. I cannot comment on those, but Weathering Part 4 is one of the best modeling books that I ever came across.
It has some resemblance with Michael Rinaldi's TankArt series, but it is different and I believe that both are mandatory for any armor modeler!
