Sukiya Manila Now Open! | Melted Cheese Gyudon | Glorietta Makati | Cheap Eats Manila. Sukiya is recognized as the number 1 Gyudon chain in Japan and was first opened in Yokohama Japan in 1982 and has since expanded to over 2000 branches across Japan and 2500 globally. The first Philippine branch was opened in Glorietta Mall Makati on November 24 2021. Sukiya is famous for their value for money philosophy in offering highly affordable premium gyudon bowls made with US Beef and is considered the ultimate Japanese comfort food of tender strips of beef, simmered in a sweet-savory shoyu-based sauce, served on top of warm fluffy rice. They offer 4 different portion sizes from small to extra large and combination sets depending on your budget, appetite and preference. Aside from their signature Gyudon you also have to try their Melted Cheese Gyudon which is their most popular topping made from a combination of mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
There are a whopping 14 pages in the Sukiya menu including Gyudon, Beef Yakiniku which are thicker beef slices grilled with a sweet mirin soy sauce marinade, Hokkaido Pork Bowls which have thicker pork belly slices grilled with an umami sauce, Japanese curry, Flame Grilled
Yakitori, Yakisoba, Unagi, Como bowls, Side Dishes and Dessert. At the first Philippine branch they even have calamansi flavored soy sauce for the local palette. We would highly recommend all the dishes we ordered: Gyudon, Gyudon Veggie Combo, Gyudon Fries Combo and Melted Cheese Gyodon with Veggie Combo. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
