Getting rid of double bonds in organic molecules. We just need to break open the double bond and attach an H to each of the carbons. This is done by reacting with hydrogen (H2), in the presence of a CATALYST (like Palladium (Pd) or Platinum (Pt)).
Note: You can also use this reaction to turn TRIPLE bonds into single bonds.
