What a title. I have a lot of memories with this game. It was the last game my father bought for me as a kid (nothing happened. He just stopped buying video games after that). While I love this game to death, just like with TMNT on the NES, I wonder if I would have still liked this game if I hadn't have played it as a kid.
It's one of those games where I think it's actually well made and well thought out (the mechanics, not the story for either the Japanese original, or the localization), but is also really frustrating at times, and I can't blame people for the it Dick Move: The Game. For example, I can understand the reasoning behind making the diagonal attack's execution down and B, while understanding critics' confusion behind the matter. The enemy placement is manageable considering the generous moveset Ken/Kevin has (and is required to take advantage of), but, again, I can understand why many people find the little enemies really annoying (that drone thing comes to mind). My biggest gripe is that there's no Yashichi.
I think the music is overall very good. Standouts for me are Planet 1 Area 3, and Planet 3 area 1. The cutscene music (which plays during some stages), and the final cutscene before the last boss is also good. I will say that I don't like the music for Planet 4 Area 2, however. Actually, I think it's the worst stage in the game. Annoying scrolling and boring music. I also don't like the fact that the music in the last stage is the same music for the final area of Planet 3. If some of the other stages had unique tracks, the could have found a way to do it for the final stage, or at least the final boss since there is a cutscene that could have been a way to change the music unjarringly (new word?). Oh and the opening/ending theme is really good.
Anyway, I try to do some interesting tricks in this run, some are pulled off, some weren't unfortunately. I hope it's still somewhat entertaining in the end.
