Ten milu deer have been transported from Beijing to Hebei Province, where they will be released into the wild in the hope of expanding the milu population. The animals were loaded onto a truck after being tranquilized on Saturday morning in Beijing and are expected to arrive in Mulan town in Hebei Province after a six-hour trip. And after staying overnight at a nature reserve, they will be carried up a mountain and returned to the wild on Sunday morning. Over-hunting, climate change and the shrinking of wetlands have made the deer an endangered species.
