Six seats and sexy - that's one way to describe the 2022 Mazda CX-9 Azami LE, a 6-seater version of the brand's biggest SUV.

Normally these CX-9 models come with seven seats, but the Azami LE takes a more luxurious tact - instead of a second-row bench seat, there are two captain's chairs - kind of like what you used to find in some high-end people movers like the top-spec Honda Odyssey.

Is six seats enough for your family, though? Well, it will depend on how many people are part of your mob, but our family reviewer Emily Agar found that for her situation, it was a generous cabin and an enjoyable drive, too. For the most part.

So, is the Mazda CX-9 Azami LE an SUV you should consider over the likes of a Kia Sorento, Toyota Kluger, Hyundai Palisade or one of the other mainstream rivals? Or is it better to consider it a competitor to the likes of the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Lexus RX, Mercedes GLE and Genesis GV80?
