The 24 Tirthankaras of the Jain faith are highly revered by followers of Jainism. The Shankeshwar temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanath, the 23rd Tirthankar. Tirthankaras signify the founding of a Tirth.
In this temple the idol of Lord Parshvanath is seen in the Lotus or padmasana pose. Next to the sanctum sanctorum is an idol of Bhidbhanjan Parshvanath on one side and an idol of Lord Ajitanatha on the other. The temple has an open square and two assembly halls.
