Total Kanha Park devided into core and buffer zones. Forget about buffer zones, We are interested in four core zones. They're Kanha, Mukkhi, Serhi, Kisli.
Kanha, Mukkhi are zones which are old and they say chances of Tiger sighting is high. Where as Serhi and Kisli are recently created zones, they say chances of Tiger sighting are less. But we had seen tiger for almost 20 min which is coming along with our vehicle, which is very closest sighting in SERHI zone only. So you cannot say this zone or that zone it's pure luck and patience. Now you can enter to these zones from their respective gates. Some gates may lead to all zones, but it depends on weather you booked single seat or whole zipsy. There are 3 gates, Kanha, Mukkhi, Serhi. But are separated by 50 to 60 Km. As you have good accommodation options at Kanha and Mukkhi, you need to be careful while booking safari slot.
We had booked our stay at Sterling Kanha, which is 2km from Khatia gate. We have booked 3 safari in Kanha park. Three are from Khatia gate. Among three, Two of them to Kanha zone (Single seat booking) and one to Serhi zone (Whole jipsy vehicle booking).
From Khatia gate you can enter to Kanha zone, Mukkhi zone, Kisli zone even it is single or whole zipsy booking. You can also enter to Serhi zone from Khatia gate only if you booked whole zipsy.
We had planned All the safaris from Khatia gate. 1st day Evening Safari and 2nd day morning safari to Kanha zone single seat booking. 2nd day evening safari to Serhi zone full vehicle booking. Plan all safaris from single gate, as gates are far away from each other.
My openion plan from Khatia gate. Kanha, Mukkhi, serhi has good option of Tiger sighting, that also depends on luck. I've sighted Tiger in Three safaris, best is Serhi zone safari. Morning safari is for 5hrs(5 to 10), evening 3hrs (4 to 7). Now park is closed. Will be opened in October. Enjoy..
