The BYD Shark 6 is a terrific family vehicle, and yes it has a big tray, off-capability, decent towing ability and hardcore underpinnings, but with more and more people choosing a ute (or pickup truck) as their dual-purpose car, this makes a strong argument not just as a pick-up, but as a straight-up SUV alternative.

It's excellent in terms of the value and spec for the money, and it has all the modern safety systems and tech you'd expect. Not to mention a strong plug-in hybrid powertrain with up to 100km of EV driving possible.

But beyond that, it's properly good to drive and live with. It's a likeable and liveable prospect, and despite its size and weight, it is easy to drive.

So, does it do anything wrong? There are a couple of niggles, but it's otherwise super impressive...
