NEW CD OUT NOW: [ Ссылка ] When I started out as a freelance organist, travelling around the villages of Salisbury on Sunday mornings, this was my favourite voluntary. It always held a congregation's attention from beginning to end.
The composer, Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély (1817-69), was a French organist. He was a virtuosic performer and played a major part in the development of the French symphonic organ style.
Sortie in E-flat is his most popular work, and I am sure that it has inspired countless young people (including me) to learn the organ.
Recorded and filmed at St Martin's Church, Salisbury, organ by William Hill & Sons (1872). Find out more about the church by visiting my website: www.benmatonmusic.co.uk
