In this episode, I recount my encounter with the Tarrafal wreck, the first shipwreck that truly defeated me. Despite my best efforts, the relentless sea conditions at this site made it impossible to work on, earning it a unique place in my career as a maritime archaeologist.

Found at depths of only 4–8 meters, the site is plagued by heavy surges, poor visibility (around 80 cm), and sharp rock heads that make diving operations dangerous and unpredictable.
