The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has approved the use of COVID-19 vaccines in children ages 6 months and older. Whether you are the parent of a teen or a younger child, you likely have questions. Our VAX Facts video series ([ Ссылка ]) is connecting parents with trusted Nationwide Children's Hospital pediatricians so they can get their questions answered directly.
QUESTION: Can children get the flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time?
DOC ANSWER: Pediatricians are definitely green lighting this. We want parents to know it is safe for their child to receive the flu shot and the COVID-19 vaccine during the same trip to the doctor’s office. Each vaccine will still be effective in preventing both illnesses. As an added bonus – both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines have similar common side effects. Mainly arm pain and fatigue. But there is nothing to suggest that these symptoms are worse when you get the vaccines together.
