With some settled weather finally here, we managed to get out on my friend Liam's boat and do some inshore lure fishing for bass around the islands.
We set out early one morning and spent a few hours trying different marks to see what was about.
We would be using a variety of lures including, shallow divers, soft plastics and surface lures, whilst drifting and also at anchor.
We'd be casting lures close to the structure of the land and targeting shallow water over large boulders and kelp beds. This is generally where you will find bass lurking in the shadows waiting to ambush any prey passing by.
With it still being a bit early in the season we weren’t quite sure how productive the day would be. However, we did manage to find a few fish and also had clear indicators of fish activity in certain areas.
All in all it was a fantastic morning out.
