Heavy snowfall and extreme weather conditions hit Turkey's biggest city where icy roads caused more than 800 traffic accidents resulting in disruption on main routes on February 18, 2015. The city’s municipality has said that around 5,000 personnel and more than 1,000 vehicles are ready to take action in the event of more disruption. Turkey’s National General Meteorology Directorate predicted Tuesday that snowfall would pause Thursday midday local time but that it will start snowing again staring the same night until Friday morning.
