For the past three years, Eileen has worked to bring offline populations online in Afghanistan. But along the way, she realized that Afghanistan was already connected to the world's biggest social network, the invisible mobile social network that exists offline. In this talk, she explains and explores how discovering the "Sneakernet" taught her to rethink innovation, technology for development, and bridging the digital divide.
Eileen is an internationally recognized expert on social media, technology, and entrepreneurship, regularly advising and speaking before governments, international organizations, and businesses on their impact on foreign policy and international security.
Eileen is the CEO of Impassion Media and Managing Partner of Impassion Afghanistan, which design solutions that mobilize communities and helps global partners engage with the world online and off. Eileen serves as an appointed member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Social Media, and was named one of “99 Top Foreign Policy Professionals Under 33” by Diplomatic Courier magazine.
