Sometimes thisleak on a TPR valve is c aused by a malfunction on a water heater but the majority of the time it's because the spring has gone bad on the TPR valve. TPR valve stands for temperature pressure relief valve. This valve opens if the temperature or pressure reaches a predetermined amount to prevent the water heater from exploding.
