At Wild Coast Brew, Fireweed is a prominent ingredient in 4 of our tea blends. We not only seek out ingredients that have healing, flavor, and aroma attributes that do well in teas, but we also look for plants, herbs, and fungi that grow in large numbers in our Southern Oregon Coast Range bio-region. Fireweed is one such plant. It grows vigorously in disturbance, thus it's name as it has a propensity to proliferate in fire-scarred areas.
From Oregon all the way up through Alaska and across into Siberia, Fireweed is a plant revered by plant enthusiasts for its many qualities. In Siberia, it is known as Ivan Chai tea and is traditionally rolled by hand.
