This is because these ambient night sounds are like nature’s metronome and repetitive sounds, especially low frequency ones, have a calming effect on the mind and can help to induce a peaceful sleep.
These low level sounds are particularly useful to have on in the background when you’re trying to get to sleep at night. This is because when it’s completely quiet, people that suffer with insomnia and other sleeping disorders are more likely to focus more on small sudden annoying noises which interfere with their ability to fall asleep naturally.
