Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tried to explain the gaffe by saying Walorski was “top of mind” for Biden when he spoke. Democratic strategist Steven Maviglio said the White House was probably "high-fiving" Pierre’s confounding explanation because it put the focus on her instead of Biden.
