Rose McKinney is nearly 82, born into a farming family in Galway she was pregnant at 13. Her parents sent her to the controversial Tuam mother and baby home where she was treated very badly. She had a second child and again was locked up. This woman was only a teenager, no one helped her, in fact the Gardai came with the nuns to help them take her back to the home.
Rosie also ended up in a Magdalene laundry.
When she moved to Dublin she had another child in the Regina Coeli. That child was taken too.
She later married and had her daughter Margaret.
Rosie is survivor who wanted to tell her story with the support of her long ten friend, Councillor Joe Costello.
Watch Rosie and Joe tonight on our Stay With Me Art Show YouTube Channel Monday 12th October at 7pm.
