Camino Frances – Day 8
Ciruena – Belorado – 28.8km
Another great sleep and up early. Blisters addressed and on the road by 6:00am. What a great day for a walk. Flat terrain and the weather was perfect for waking – 26 degrees and cloud cover. A 13km hike to breakfast today – we certainly were looking forward to having breakky today.
Struggled with my blister today. Every time we stopped I’d hobble for the first 5 minutes until it gets used to walking again. At one stage I felt the blister pop – the relief was unbelievable. Let’s hope that this doesn’t bring on another problem like infection.
We passed through many reaped and ploughed fields today and sunflowers. These made us laugh as people had taken time to put faces on the sunflowers and we saw some of the biggest stacks of hay bales I’ve ever seen.
After a 8 hour day trekking we arrived at our Albergue A Santiago. We had a shower and even had the energy to have a walk into town. Belorado is a beautiful village. They had some lovely street art along some of the buildings and a nice park in the centre. It appears they are setting up for a festival. Not sure if it’s tonight. We are staying at the beginning of the town so this may be a good thing.
Back to our Albergue for a wonderful dinner. Just the two of us tonight. Even though the dining room was full of Pilgrims it appeared folks wanted their own company.
Tonight we are experiencing thunderstorms and rain. Not sure what the morning will bring, hopefully it’ll blow over before the morning.
Until tomorrow – Buen Camino – Jim & De
