This FABULOUS question was submitted by one of our Savvy listeners, Philip Kramer.
He asked: “What are your thoughts on building a sense of “community” for your studio? Especially for online studios? People want to know other people who share their interests, but it can be hard to find fun systems of “togetherness” when everyone lives so far away.”
I love this question!
Having a tight-knit community within your music studio is a beautiful thing. It creates a learning environment that fosters happiness and motivation, which in turn results in greater retention and awesome word-of-mouth referrals. (Yay referrals!)
So the question we’re going to explore today is this: How can we build a sense of community both for in-person studios AND online-only studios?
To be clear — we’re not talking about once or twice yearly recitals.
Yes, recitals can be useful, but they’re often not enough on their own. Sitting in a church pew waiting your turn to play or sing during an hour-long recital doesn’t do much to foster relationships. (Not throwing shade here — just describing my own studio and teacher experiences with standard recitals.)
Are you ready to create an amazing community within your music studio?
