An American Airlines flight returned to John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio Sunday after a bird strike started an engine fire Sunday morning, officials said.
Flight 1958, originally headed for Phoenix, Ariz., struck a bird at around 8 a.m., sparking an engine fire that could be seen on the plane’s wing.
A video shared by passenger Marni Kallestad shows flames shooting from the plane’s engine while it’s still in flight.
“Emergency crews responded to an aircraft incident at CMH this morning involving a reported engine fire. The aircraft landed safely and the airport is open and operational,” John Glenn Columbus International Airport tweeted Sunday.
No injuries were reported, and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
