Eucomis or Pineapple lily is a relatively recent addition to floriculture crop production. First introduced as a landscape plant, Eucomis did not really start to catch on until new hybrids were bred for novel colors, tropical fragrance, compactness, and easily forcible bulbs. Eucomis is a great crop to consider for pot, landscape, and even cut flower production because of how easy it is to produce and its long postharvest life. This seminar will cover pot production of Eucomis including, propagation, planting, fertilization, pests, and PGRs. Cut flower production will be very briefly discussed.
