U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, under the Unit Deployment Program, and Soldiers with the 8th Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, conducted Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) training during Forest Light Middle Army at the Aibano Training Area in Shiga, Japan, on Dec. 4, 2019. Forest Light Middle Army is an annual exercise designed to enhance the collective defense capabilities of the United States-Japan Alliance, allowing infantry units to maintain lethality and proficiency in combined arms tactics.
