The Freedom Schools program is not your average summer camp; it is an intensive summer enrichment program that is transforming lives. The program helps youth fall in love with reading and increases their self-esteem.
CDF-NY's goal is to offer this program to some of New York's most at-risk youth. In partnership with the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), we are piloting the program this summer at one NYS juvenile placement facility. Our goal is to expand to at least three New York City facilities in summer 2012. Based on the Freedom Schools program's track record of success, we are confident this program will serve as a catalyst for a positive culture change in our Juvenile Justice System.
