Finally got someone (my dad) to record me practicing outside in my uniform. Background: This is a traditional Japanese martial art that combines ceremonial styles and warrior styles. Sometimes called Zen archery, but they are separate terms. I am performing a common shooting ceremony using two ya.
The bow is a yumi, made of bamboo and hardwood, which I ordered from Don Symanski Sensei of Colorado. The arrows are ya, bamboo also made by Jaap Koppedrayer of Georgia. My own kyudo sensei is Rick Beal of the Nanka Kyudo Kai (Pasadena, California).
