In this video Loren Perry tells the story of how Gold Medal Models came to be. Loren Perry has been building model ships since the early 1950's, when his father presented him with a plastic Lindberg kit of a Navy LST landing ship. His work has been featured in the pages of many hobby magazines over the years, both in the United States and overseas. Some of his models have won top awards in the U.S. and in Britain. One of these, a replica of the USN destroyer Vogelgesang, became the first American model ever to win a Gold Medal at the prestigious Model Engineer Exhibition held annually in England. This same model was also the first radio-controlled entry ever to win the highest award at the International Plastic Modelers Society's national convention. Loren served as editor of Scale Ship Modeler magazine from 1984 to 1992.
This interview with Loren is must watch for ship modelers or general hobbyists with an interest in highly detailed model building.
