Our natural ecosystems are key for storing large reserves of carbon in vegetation and soils and sequestering carbon from the atmosphere. Healthy ecosystems protect natural and human settlements against adverse impacts of climate change and strengthen their resilience. Conservation and protection of biodiversity should be at the heart of ambitious climate action.
This webinar, hosted by GIZ, aims to highlight the interlinkages of the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Agreement, as well as the National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), supported with country cases. It will also provide a closer look at Nature-based Solutions (NbS) - a concept that has emerged strongly in recent years in response to the climate and biodiversity crises, as an umbrella approach that brings together several established and innovative measures based on the multiple services that ecosystems provide to society and people.
