Bengaluru has reported two cases of HMPV (human metapneumovirus), with the first detected in an eight-month-old at a private hospital. A health department source stated, “The reports have come from a private hospital, and we have no reason to doubt their tests.” HMPV, a respiratory virus mostly affecting children under 11, accounts for approximately 0.7% of all flu cases. Authorities are yet to determine the strain of the virus, as no data links it to the variant found in China. Kerala's Health Minister confirmed the state is monitoring the situation closely and preparing for any potential outbreak.
