This is the third in a series covering live cd's. You may also have heard them referred to as rescue disks or bootable disks. Live cd's are very useful to technicians who are working on a computer that will not boot into Windows, or when they are working on a computer that is so badly infected with viruses that a typical antivirus can't remove them effectively. Live cd's are also great for data recovery, password recovery and resets and diagnostics as well.

I would suggest downloading the ISO image, burning it to disk, and playing around with the program to learn it's features and capabilities.
