Most people will tell you that they put their compressor pedal before their gain and other modulation or time-based effects without ever trying it anywhere else in their signal chain. Our ears are used to hearing compression and limiters at the end of a signal chain on recordings and in live sound settings, so why don't more guitarists experiment with this?
