*Quick note before we start, this will be the last video under my current username of 'letmadnessbegin', starting tomorrow my channel will be called 'Speed to the West', in reference to the iconic GWR poster. I should have a proper video on this uploaded tomorrow*
The second outing of 2014, but the first to a big gala event, the Great Central Railway's winter steam gala. Featuring the usual intensive service, filled with passenger workings, goods workings, and TPOs. The three day event would see a total of 10 locomotives and a DMU in service, including three visiting locos in the form of 9F no.92214 'Cock O' The North', Taffy Tank no.5643 and Austerity Tank no.22, along with 70013 'Oliver Cromwell', who had returned to the line following a busy year on the mainline in 2013. 70013 would wear a wreath on her smokebox door during the event, in memory of GCR driver Mick Pickering, who passed away earlier this month, 70013 was the last locomotive he worked on. I visited on the Saturday, and the weather was "interesting" to say the least, with everything apart from snow being thrown at us! Including a rather brilliant and thunderstorm at around three o'clock.
Apologies for any shots which cut in very late, these were either because I was caught out, or it was a last minute decision to film a certain train.
Locomotives in service were:
- Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0T no.22 (Failed on the Friday, withdrawn from the rest of the gala)
- LMS 3F 'Jinty' Class 0-6-0T no.47406
- GNR N2 Class 0-6-2T no.1744
- SR N15 'King Arthur' Class 4-6-0 no.777 'Sir Lamiel'
- BR Class 127 DMU nos.M51616 'Alf Benny' & M51622
- LMS 8F Class 2-8-0 no.48624
- BR(M) Ivatt 2MT Class 2-6-0 no.46521
- BR Standard Class 2MT 2-6-0 no.78019 (One of her last gala appearances before her boiler certificate expires in the summer)
- BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 no.92214 'Cock O' The North' (Now in a rather gorgeous lined black livery)
- GWR 5600 Class 0-6-2T no.5643
- BR Standard Class 7MT 4-6-2 no.70013 'Oliver Cromwell'
Shots included in order of loco are:

777: On the TPO at Quorn, and arriving and departing Quorn on two passenger workings.

46521: Light engine at Kinchley Lane and Quorn, passing through Quorn on the Windcutters, and departing Quorn on a passenger working.
78019: Double heading with 46521 at Woodthorpe, and trundling past Kinchley Lane.
92214: Departing Quorn, crossing with 'Sir Lamiel' at Kinchley Lane, on the TPO at Quorn and returning with the stock.
5643: On the goods at Woodthorpe and Quorn, on a passenger working at Quorn and Kinchley Lane, and on the Windcutters at Quorn, passed by 1744 heading for the turntable.
70013: At Woodthorpe and Quorn (twice) on passenger workings, passing with 48624 and 47406. Before our last shot of Ollie, and indeed the last shot of the video, 92214 is seen rolling through Quorn light engine to Loughborough. To end the video we see Ollie making a ferocious run past through Quorn with the evening TPO, what a performance to end the day on!
Filmed on a Panasonic HS900 with a Pro Sound L92AA microphone.
