Hello everyone!
This video has been one that I have been so excited to put together! Since our trip last year we regretted not spending more time in the sensational Picos de Europa National Park and so that is why this time we did our research!
Our first stop in Picos de Europa was the Los Lagos de Covadonga hike which you need to get a bus to due to the treacherous road! The bus journey was definitely part of the fun and we had a great time meeting the horses and taking in the views on this incredible hike!
Our next stop was the Ruta del Cares hike which is an old track carved into sheer mountainsides that were used by shepards to herd their flocks in the early twentieth century. The trail is absolutely spectacular and the views are out of this world! We absolutely loved this hike and had an amazing time! It does get very busy here in the summer so we were grateful to have timed our visit out of season for this one!
We then moved on to the mountain town of Potes which is a firm favourite. With narrow old streets, bars and shops, this town is full of charm and you can stay for free behind the supermarket which we took full advantage of before heading to Fuente Dé - an awe inspiring circus of mountains that is really incredible. There is a cable car you can take to the top here - but we did that on our previous trip so didn't go up again, but it is definitely worth the trip!
