Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan Gets Bail in Graft Case, But Will Continue to Stay in Prison
The Islamabad High Court in Pakistan granted bail to jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a case related to the illegal sale of state gifts on November 20. The case, known as the Toshakhana or state treasury case, involves allegations against Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, over keeping expensive gifts by a foreign leader. The gifts included a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings. The court granted bail to Khan on the condition of submitting a surety bond of around $3,600. Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi had already received bail in the same case on October 24, after which she was released from jail. Khan has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that all cases against him are politically motivated to keep him in jail. So far, Khan has been embroiled in over 150 cases against him.
