As screens get smaller so do the images and text that fill our mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches. The font that web designers and developers choose is hugely important, lest we want to squint all the time. But not every font is legible on these tiny screens because many weren’t originally created for the web but for print. Typeface designer Tobias Frere-Jones set out to design a new font that would consider both print and "hostile" environment of the ever shrinking screen. He applied a centuries old technique to create the type family Mallory, which he releases today.
