After months of heavy rains the water levels of Green, Red and Blue Lakes have increased, most notably the Blue Lake. Back in October 2020, the Blue Lake was dry and now after months of increased rainfall, the water level increased to one of the highest levels recorded. Blue and Red Lake (Modro i Crveno Jezero) are one of the most beautiful karst lakes in Croatia located near the town of Imotski in Croatia. The Blue and Red Lake lie in deep sinkholes that were formed possibly from a collapse of enormous caves. The total depth from the upper rim of Blue Lake is around 220 metres. In 1914 it reached 114 m, overflowing the southern rim.
Red Lake (Crveno jezero) is the third deepest sinkhole containing a karst lake. It is called as Red Lake due to the reddish-brown color (caused by iron oxides) of the surrounding cliffs. The total explored depth of this sinkhole is approximately 530 metres of that, cliffs are 240 meters high.
The Green Lake (Zeleno Jezero) is the least famous of the three lakes, as it is not a crest lake but a accumulation lake. But it has it's charms like the greenish color of the water and the interesting landscape once it becomes mostly dried up. It is located near the village of Ričice near the Croatian - Bosnia and Herzegovina border.
And there are even more lakes in this general location but I don't have the dry phase footage to compare. If you're ever visiting this area there are many attractions to visit.
