Previously in Quake 2 we followed Bitterman as he made his way across the dangerous enviroments of Stroggos, starting with him crashing in the southern regions and ending with him destroying the Strogg leader. In this expansion pack for Quake 2, titled "Quake 2: The Reckoning", we follow a new protagonist referred to as Joker.
Much like Bitterman, Joker has his ship/pod malfunction due to unfortunate circumstances, causing him to crash into the Stroggos wilderness. He now has to find a way into one of the Stroggs' main fortifications: The Swamps, Sewers, and Waste Sieve. Already he will start encountering more dangerous and frequent foes than Bitterman did in the regular game.
