Hello, my name is John Smitherman, I'm the Chief Engineer here at Sierra Instruments. My intention today would be just to briefly go through with you the importance of mass flow compared to volumetric flow. And then you can draw your own conclusions from that, but, really what's important is the mass flow, because that's actually what goes in and out of any kind of a biological reaction, the molecules themselves, not necessarily the volume of the molecules.
They do make small sensors now with pressure and temperature, it might look exactly like this. But we've done all the packaging for you. Our technology actually doesn't use discrete pressure and temperature sensors, it uses a special thermal sensor, referred to as a thermal capillary inside here that measures mass flow directly, without requiring temperature or pressure corrections.
And a lot of our core technology is built around control valves, so, to turn a meter into a controller, we've actually added inside the cover here, there's a small, electromagnetic valve that automatically controls the flow through the controller itself. Not only are you instantly able to measure mass flow, you have no issues setting up any kind of a controller or anything on your processes because we've done all that for you inside this one housing.
I hope to persuade you that the mass flow is obviously much more important than a volumetric flow. This holds true in almost any industry that you can think of, because most industries are really driven by molecules, in processes and things like that, not volumetric flow.
